Resources: Operations Head
From a human resources perspective, the Operations Head can be any title you desire depending upon level of experience you seek. Some common titles are Operations Manager, Director of Operations, Vice President of Operations or even Chief Operating Officer. This person has the vision of what the organization should be (based upon discussions with you, the owner or his/her supervisor), can strategically/tactically plan for growth, implement technologies and processes as needed, adds new hires according to plan etc. Ultimately, this individual builds up an entire infrastructure to support eventual manufacturing and shipment of product.
One way to minimize this growth is to ‘outsource’ with an outsource provider (contract manufacturer) so that you can leverage off of their infrastructure, technology, facilities, expertise etc. This will allow you to focus on core strengths and conserve cash flow at the same time. This will also set the stage for future growth into high volume production as your supply chain and manufacturing take shape from these actions.
